The problem with this is that it does not matter who is driving the car. The ticket goes with the car. That to me is wrong. It has to stay against the driver not the car. If my mother borrows my car and gets a ticket, it should not go against me.

Probably the most nightmarish aspect of some else getting a ticket for driving your car is the fact that if you don't know about it and do not receive an appearance summons you could it with a bench warrant

speed cameras are ok. it is the way they are used that is anti-justice, undemocratic and un-english in the extreme in the matter that the evidence of an offence is not examined before a charge is brought and a driver has no chance to offer a reasonable excuse or defence before the paperwork is done. speed cameras and their masters take no account of cir***stances outside the contol of a driver. finally, fixed fines are unfairly harsh upon the poor and punish high earners much less. fixed fines are against our long tradition of means tested fines (within limits) for everything which is the only fair way. i am certain any government that introduced this system would have acted illegally if only they would let our constitution out of that dusty old room!!!

I don't know. I think things like a speed camera are right out of 1984. I would prefer to see everything done the old fashioned way.

I can see why people don't like the cameras but they have a good purpose. At least they can tell when an accident happens and who might be at fault. No one wants wants Big Brother watching them but even streets have cameras on them now. My building has camera's all over. I like to think of them as a form of protection.

I am for speed cameras. As a defensive driver, I do my best when it comes to driving my car, and I think those who are on the other side of this driving style should think to change their style everytime they get busted with these cameras.
