Hi guys,
I have a problem and would appreciate any pointers from you, my learned colleagues as my Renault specialist garage is grasping at straws.
My 52 plate 1.5 dci 80 has recently developed an intermittent starting problem. The indications are that power is available with lights etc on the dash but when the key is turned, nothing, just a click?
I initially had
The AA chap out who said it's a starter motor issue and the brushes may be on the way out and If it happens again he suggested changing the starter motor.
The only thing which concerned me about the diagnosis was that I had an odd glow plug indication too. When the car is not going to play properly, the glow plug does not come on initially as normal. I then know I will not be able to start the car. However, after several attempts of removing/inserting/turning the key, it usually has an electrical hick-up and then a normal glow plug indication and a normal start.
This has been happenning on and off for 3 months now. My garage has suggested a UCH card (electrical distribution card) @ £310 + or spec change the starter but i'm not convinced and they are not guaranteeing a fix!!!
Does anyone have any similar experiences so that I can fill in the blanks?
Thanks in anticipation
