Volvo V70 not starting

Hi There,

Brand new to this site and would just like some answers to why my car won't start. Car is a V reg V70 Estate 2.4 turbo.

Yesterday the car just didn't turn over, all lights and electric were still working so thought it could be starter motor? Got back late in the day and tried again this time everything was dead, even central locking. A put the battery on charge for several hours and then tried to start the car the following morning, all electric were back on but again it didn't start.

I use to use a hammer on the starter motor of a very old vw polo and that worked for several years. Unfortunately can't even get my hands into the engine on these newer cars.

Please can anybody help identify the problem.

Hmmmp..so strange to me..If this is the problem it is on the battery side of your car. Did you try to consult your problem on a mechanic?

you don't say whether the engine would turn over after batt chg, just that it won't start, is the car auto trans, if so have you eliminated the inhibitor switch, & you may poss have a short somewhere if batt drains again, check all lights are turned off, inc courtessy lights, glove box closed, pass vanity mirror light switched off. check/carry out these steps & let me know the results, unless you've already fixed prob. regards djdave.
