Smile Wheel wobble

Hello,
I have a wheel wobble between 60 & 70 on my 4 year old Skoda Octavia Diesel Automatic. The front wheels have been balanced twice. Any ideas gratefully received.

Check lower ball joints and lower suspension arms presuming you have had wheels balanced and checked for bulges and tread seperation

Default re: wheel wobble.

do you mean wobble on the road wheels or wobble on the steering wheel? if rear wheels are out of balance you can get the whole vehicle shaking slightly. if front wheels are out of balance you will just get a shaking of the steering wheel. one more thing to bear in mind is that "off the car" wheel balancing only takes care of the wheel itself... you still have drive shafts, hubs, flanges and brake discs that can cause a wheel out of balance effect.

hi gower
costadelboy & iasha are spot on, all those components if worn can cause your problem, also wheel bearings & associated rubber suspension bushes if worn out , detiorated or displaced. hope this helps , best luck & regards dj dave.

Default Re: Wheel wobble

some wheels have a lot of run out or get slightly buckled in use. some tyres, especially those without pedigree, have a lot of run out. manufacturers optimise the assembly using the run out of one to offset the run out of the other but tyre shops just throw the tyres on to the rims and often these run outs add up to a disgusting amount and balancing will be no use and will always give a rough ride. some suspension designs are more sensitive to imbalance and a greater degree of precision is needed when choosing and fitting tyres as well as the balancing itself. it was locking wheel nuts that upset my car and after three visits for rebalance they agreed to another rebalance and then in addition balanced each on the car and turned my hillman into a rolls-royce.
