 escort zetec engine burning oil i have a escort 1.8 si it has only done 66 thousand miles and it burns oil i have removed the the plugs and it is number 2 cylinder which has the problem are there any common faults apart from rings and seals. it is a 1998 model whith the zetec engine.      |

| rep to waff hi waff you are 100% correct, rings & valve stem seals are the only cure in my experience. there is a test procedure to determine which, but i've been out of the trade for app 25 yrs plus & it has eluded me i'm afraid mate. maybe another member can throw some light on it . good luck, regards dj dave  P.S. as far as my exp & common sense go, i'd boldly say rings are the prob as seals very rarely go on one single set of valves.  just a gess I would gess fuel-oil ratio.  if thats it you need more fuel or less oil. can you buy larger ?injectors? for fuel? |
