Unhappy Smelly Honda Civic

Hiya,
I've a 92 Honda Civic 1.4 16v and its pretty much standard at the mo and it seems to stink like the clutch is burning out at around 80 mph....

Anyone else got one, know anything about them, or can let me know best thing to cure it.

Thanks

hi lil babe
brakes binding springs to mind immediately( same friction material used, hence same smell ). jack car up & make sure all wheels spin freely, my bet is one of them doesn't. diagnosis poss siezed caliper / wheel ( brake ) cylinder, solution purchase new unit & fit. also ( mainly on rear wheels ) maybe siezed hand/park brake components, solution free off using penetrating fluid ( wd40 or similar ) & working hand brake on & off,if no luck you'll have to replace h/brake cables & associated components. do not be tempted to buy brake parts from a scrap/breakers yard, you may end up with same prob or WORSE. remember steering or brakes, it's your life & others, so don't scrimp on cash. as to your clutch you mentioned, partially siezed brakes will put extra strain on the clutch, so get them fixed a.s.a.p. also increases fuel consumption. good luck babes , kindest regards dj dave
P.S. be extra carefull not to let wd40 fluid get on discs/drums or disc pads /brake shoes, if this does happen , clean off with brake cleaner ( available from most good car accessory shops ).
